ComparisonChecked 30 September 2026
A Trocador alternative with one set of rules
Trocador is an aggregator: it compares partner exchanges, and you swap directly with the one you pick, under that exchange's terms. Ghostex runs every order itself, with 0.48% on every pair, a 30-minute fixed-rate lock and one set of Terms. Trocador lists more coins and lets you send Monero and Lightning BTC.

Ghostex vs Trocador at a glance
Fifteen points that decide who holds your coins during a swap, what you pay and what happens if an order stalls. Each Trocador cell cites the Trocador page it comes from, linked at its first mention and in the Sources list below. As of September 2026; checked 30 September 2026.
| Point | Ghostex | Trocador |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A swap service that executes every order itself (Terms, s.3) | An aggregator: software for choosing a partner exchange and trading with it directly; Trocador never holds or moves the funds (Terms of Use) |
| Who runs your swap | Ghostex, on every order | The exchange you pick from the list, under its own terms and privacy policy (About and FAQ) |
| Fee | 0.48% flat, inside the quote; the payout network fee is covered (Terms, s.8) | Exchange and network fees sit inside each rate; Trocador's referral commission comes out of the exchange's fee, so using it costs nothing extra (FAQ) |
| Account | None: no sign-up, no login | Not needed to swap (FAQ) |
| Identity checks | Never asks for ID; an order linked to a prohibited use may be delayed, declined or refunded (Terms, s.6) | Set by each exchange, which may pause a swap and ask for KYC/AML verification; Trocador gives every exchange a privacy rating (FAQ) |
| Fixed rate | Locked for 30 minutes from order creation for the exact amount, whatever the market does | Set by the chosen exchange; the FAQ warns that a fixed trade can still be refunded if the market moves too far, and suggests floating whenever possible |
| Typical time | 5 to 30 minutes, depending on network confirmations | 5 to 60 minutes, with an ETA shown for each exchange (FAQ) |
| Limits | About $10 to $10,000,000 in USD value; the form shows exact limits per pair | Per exchange: a few accept trades from about $10, many start higher (FAQ) |
| Refunds | Automatic, to your refund address or the address you paid from, minus the network cost of sending it back (Terms, s.12) | Handled by the chosen exchange under its own policy; Trocador's support helps with a failed swap (FAQ) |
| Backstop | The liability cap does not limit the duty to deliver or refund a deposit for an unfinished order (Terms, s.17) | Trocador Guarantee: reimbursement up to a protected amount per exchange if it neither completes nor refunds; exchanges rated D and proven AML cases are excluded (Terms of Use) |
| Monero and Lightning | Receive only: you can swap into XMR or Lightning BTC | Both appear on the send and the receive list (swap form) |
| Coins | 43 assets (asset and network list) | 136 coin and network entries on each side of the no-JavaScript swap form (our count) |
| Who may use it | No country list; excludes sanctioned persons and places where the service is prohibited or under comprehensive sanctions (Terms, s.5) | Users confirm they are not located in, or citizens or residents of, the United States, an EEA country or a sanctioned country (Terms of Use) |
| Data kept | No cookies or trackers; order records kept only as long as the order, refunds and legal duties require (Privacy, s.10) | Trade details deleted after 14 days or on request; IP, user agent and language logged only where an exchange requires it (Privacy Policy) |
| Operator | Ghostex.ai, Kutaisi, Georgia (Terms, s.1) | Reta Development Assets LLC (site footer) |
Aggregator or exchange
Choosing an exchange on every swap, or dealing with one
Trocador does not trade. When you ask for a quote, it collects rates from its partner exchanges, lists them and passes your order to the one you choose. That exchange gives you the deposit address, receives your coins, makes the trade and pays you out. Trocador's part is the comparison, the monitoring of each exchange and the support around your swap; its Terms of Use say it never takes custody of the funds.
The upside is competition on every order. On 30 September 2026 we asked Trocador's no-JavaScript site for a 0.05 BTC to XMR swap. It listed 25 floating-rate offers. The lowest paid 5.1% less XMR than the best one, and estimated times ran from 8 to 73 minutes. Every row also carried a privacy grade, and we saw A, B and C among them. Rate, speed and grade rarely top the list together, so the choice is yours on each swap.
The other side is that the rules move with the row you click. These points depend on the exchange you pick on Trocador, and stay the same on every Ghostex order:
| Point | On Trocador | On Ghostex |
|---|---|---|
| Identity checks | The chosen exchange's AML and KYC policy, summed up in Trocador's privacy grade | No identity documents, ever (Terms, s.21) |
| Fixed-rate rules | The exchange's; a big market move can still end in a refund | 30 minutes for the exact amount; the lock is not tied to market moves |
| A different amount sent | Some exchanges complete it proportionally, others halt the swap | Executed at the market rate or refunded automatically, as the order page shows |
| Minimum | From about $10 at a few exchanges, higher at many | About $10 on every pair |
| If the swap fails | The exchange's refund process, with Trocador's support and Guarantee behind it | Automatic refund in the same asset and network, minus the network cost of sending it back |
| Who stores your trade | The exchange may keep amounts, coins and addresses under its own policy | Ghostex only, for as long as the order, refunds and legal duties require |
Ghostex is not a vault of its own coins either. Its Router agent picks an execution path, and order data goes to liquidity providers only as far as a swap needs (Privacy, s.9). The difference is who you deal with. On Ghostex it is always Ghostex, so the Terms you read once decide what happens to every deposit, whichever route the order takes.
The Trocador Guarantee and Ghostex's refund rule
Because the exchange, not Trocador, holds your coins during a swap, Trocador adds a safety net of its own. If the exchange neither completes nor refunds your swap, and cannot show proof of unusually high AML risk or a block by its liquidity provider, Trocador reimburses you up to a protected amount. That amount is set per exchange, as a percentage of the swap, when you create it. Claims go in by email or Telegram within 10 days, and Trocador says the process can take a week or longer because it first tries to settle the case with the exchange. Exchanges rated D, proven AML cases and swaps halted by a police request or legal order are not covered. Trocador describes it as free, included protection rather than insurance.
Ghostex has no separate guarantee because no third party sits between you and the swap. If an order cannot complete, Executor decides the refund and Courier sends it without a request, in the same asset and on the same network, minus the network cost of sending it back (Terms, s.12). Liability for a claim is capped at the service fee for that order, but section 17 states that the cap does not limit the obligation to deliver or refund funds deposited for an order that has not completed. Ghostex can also delay, decline or refund an order connected with a prohibited use (s.6), and even then it does not ask for identity documents. For the mechanics, read automatic refunds, explained.
Honest trade-offs
Where Trocador is the better choice
Trocador is the better choice when you want many quotes side by side, when you need to send Monero or Lightning BTC, or when you want a site that works without JavaScript. Its own pages support each point below. Ghostex is not the right tool for every swap.
- Many quotes on one screen. Our 0.05 BTC to XMR request returned 25 floating offers, each with its rate, spread, ETA and privacy grade. Ghostex gives you one quote.
- Sending Monero or Lightning BTC. Both are on Trocador's send list. On Ghostex both are receive-only, so XMR to BTC is not possible here.
- A longer coin list. 136 coin and network entries on each side of its no-JavaScript form, against Ghostex's 43 assets.
- Swapping without JavaScript. Its FAQ says JavaScript is optional for most of its services, and a no-JavaScript version of the site is online. Ghostex's exchange form needs JavaScript.
- A stated deletion window. Its privacy policy deletes trade details after 14 days, or at once on request. Ghostex keeps order records as long as orders, refunds and legal duties require, without a fixed number of days.
- Cards and fiat. Prepaid cards, gift cards and a buy and sell gateway through partners. Ghostex swaps crypto for crypto only.
How to switch
Switching from Trocador: four steps
The flow is the one you know, minus the exchange list: pick a pair, give an address, send, track. The quote you see is Ghostex's own, with the 0.48% already inside.
-
1. Pick a pair
Routes into Monero, for example: BTC to XMR, LTC to XMR and USDT TRC20 to XMR. Choose fixed or floating; both carry 0.48%.
-
2. Enter your address
Paste the address that receives the payout, plus a memo if that wallet needs one. A refund address is optional; add one when paying from an exchange account.
-
3. Send the exact amount
Send the amount shown, on the network shown, to the deposit address shown on your order. On a fixed rate, send within 30 minutes of creating the order.
-
4. Track the order
Keep the order ID and follow progress on the order tracking page. If the swap cannot complete, the refund starts on its own.
FAQ
Trocador alternative: questions
Is Ghostex affiliated with Trocador?
No. Ghostex is a separate service with no link to Trocador or to Reta Development Assets LLC, the company named in its site footer. We mention Trocador only to compare its published pages, read on 30 September 2026.
Is Ghostex an aggregator like Trocador?
No. Ghostex executes every order itself. Its Router agent picks the execution path, but you never choose or deal with a third-party exchange, and Ghostex's Terms of Service govern every order.
Can I swap XMR to BTC on Ghostex?
No. Monero is receive-only on Ghostex: you can swap BTC, LTC, USDT and other assets into XMR, but XMR cannot be the asset you swap from. For XMR to BTC you need a service that lists Monero on its send side, as Trocador does.
Does Ghostex have a guarantee like Trocador's?
There is no separate guarantee, because no third party sits between you and the swap. If an order cannot complete, the deposit is refunded automatically, and the Terms (section 17) keep the obligation to deliver or refund deposited funds outside the liability cap.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, login or email step. The order ID is the only reference to your swap, so keep it: anyone who has it can open that order's status page.
How long does a swap take?
Typically 5 to 30 minutes, depending on network confirmations. Ghostex waits for 2 confirmations on Bitcoin, 12 on Ethereum and 20 on Tron before the swap runs, then sends the payout.
