The fee gap
What one fee means on a fixed-rate swap
FixedFloat prices certainty: its FAQ lists a 1% service fee for a fixed rate and 0.5% for a float rate. Ghostex charges 0.48% on both, so choosing a locked rate does not change what the service takes. On a $1,000 swap, counting the service fee only:
| Rate type | FixedFloat | Ghostex | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed rate | 1% = $10.00 | 0.48% = $4.80 | $5.20 |
| Floating rate | 0.5% = $5.00 | 0.48% = $4.80 | $0.20 |
The gap is real on fixed rates and close to nothing on floating ones. It is also not the whole bill. FixedFloat's FAQ adds a network fee to each rate, and its terms (s.3.3) say fees are already in the rate shown when the order is created. Ghostex covers the network fee for sending your payout inside the quote, while your own wallet pays the fee to broadcast your deposit. The fair test is therefore the final amount each quote promises for the same pair, the same amount and the same moment. The quote at the top of this page already includes the 0.48%.
What each fixed-rate window asks of you
A lock is only worth its conditions. Ghostex's Terms, section 8, lock the amount you receive for 30 minutes from order creation, as long as your deposit is sent within that window and matches the order amount. Nothing in those terms ties the lock to how far the market moves.
FixedFloat's FAQ and ToS 2.5 and 2.7 set three conditions: the transaction reaches the mempool or a block within 10 minutes of order creation, the amount is exact, and the market rate moves no more than 1.2% before the transaction appears. Miss one and you choose between a refund of the amount sent minus the network fee, or continuing at the market rate.
Both clocks measure when you send, not when blocks confirm. In practice, 30 minutes leaves room to withdraw coins from an exchange account or wait for a slow wallet to broadcast. For when each rate type makes sense, read fixed vs floating rates.

Other FixedFloat alternatives compared
Six more swap services on fee, lock, Monero and account, as their own pages state them. Checked 26 September 2026; each name opens our full comparison.
| Service | Fee as stated | Fixed-rate lock | Monero | Account |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChangeNOW alternative | No percentage; "included in the final rate" (ToS 5.4) | Deposit within 4 minutes (ToS 2.3) | Both directions | Not needed for standard swaps; US residents need one |
| SideShift.ai alternative | No percentage; a "small service fee" in the rate | 15 minutes | Not available when we checked on 26 September 2026 | Created automatically on the first shift |
| SimpleSwap alternative | "All-in-one rate"; may start from 0.2% for some assets | 20 minutes | Both directions active | Not needed for most swaps |
| StealthEX alternative | Variable service fee plus network fee, included in the estimate | Not stated in their current terms or FAQ | Both directions | Not needed |
| Exolix alternative | States it charges no service fee; network fee only | 60 minutes (terms, s.4) | Both directions | Not needed; optional account |
| Godex alternative | No percentage stated | 30 minutes (terms, s.4) | Listed in their public API | Not needed |
Reading the table. A service that publishes no percentage still charges through its rate, so compare final quotes, not headline fees. Ghostex's 30-minute lock matches Godex and is shorter than the 60 minutes Exolix states. Or see all swap services compared on one page.
Honest trade-offs
Where FixedFloat is the better choice
FixedFloat is the better choice in three cases its own pages support: swapping Monero or Lightning BTC away, since both sit on its send side; wanting a longer track record, as its FAQ says it launched in 2018; and creating orders inside Telegram through its bot. Ghostex is not the right tool for every swap.
How to switch
Switching from FixedFloat: four steps
The flow will feel familiar: pick the direction, give an address, send, wait. The differences are the 30-minute window and the single fee.
-
1. Pick a pair
Common routes for FixedFloat users: BTC to XMR, ETH to BTC and USDT TRC20 to XMR. Choose fixed or floating; both carry 0.48%.
-
2. Enter your address
Paste the address that receives the payout, plus a memo if that wallet needs one. A refund address is optional; add one when paying from an exchange account.
-
3. Send the exact amount
Send the amount shown, on the network shown, to the deposit address shown on your order. On a fixed rate, send within 30 minutes of creating the order.
-
4. Track the order
Keep the order ID and follow progress on the order tracking page. If the swap cannot complete, the refund starts on its own.
FAQ
FixedFloat alternative: questions
Is Ghostex affiliated with FixedFloat?
No. Ghostex is a separate service with no link to FixedFloat or to FFGX Group LLC, the company its terms name. We mention FixedFloat only to compare published terms, read on ff.io on 26 September 2026.
Does Ghostex charge more for a fixed rate?
No. The fee is 0.48% on a fixed rate and 0.48% on a floating rate, already inside the quote either way. The network fee for sending your payout is covered and already reflected in your quote; only your own wallet's deposit fee sits outside it.
Can I swap XMR to BTC on Ghostex?
No. Monero is receive-only on Ghostex: you can swap BTC, ETH, USDT and other assets into XMR, but XMR cannot be the asset you swap from. For XMR to BTC you need a service that lists Monero on its send side, as FixedFloat does.
Does Ghostex support Lightning?
Only for payouts. You can receive BTC over Lightning to an invoice or a Lightning address, and an invoice that carries a fixed amount works only with a fixed rate. Lightning cannot be the side you swap from.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, login or email step. The order ID is the only reference to your swap, so keep it: anyone who has it can open that order's status page.
How long does a swap take?
Typically 5 to 30 minutes, depending on network confirmations. Ghostex waits for 2 confirmations on Bitcoin, 12 on Ethereum and 20 on Tron before the swap runs, then sends the payout.
