Pair details

LTC to XMR at a glance

You send
Native LTC on the Litecoin network, entered to 4 decimals. The swap starts once the deposit has 6 confirmations.
You receive
XMR, which Courier sends on the Monero network once Executor has made the swap.
Payout address
A Monero address of 95 characters starting with 4 or 8, or an exchange's 106-character integrated address. The Bitcoin to Monero page explains which one to use.
Memo or tag
Not used. Litecoin deposits carry no memo, and Monero payouts take no payment ID.
Refund address
Optional, in LTC: an ltc1…, L…, M… or legacy 3… address. Without one, a refund returns to the address the deposit came from, so add your own when you pay from an exchange account.
Limits
About $10 to $10,000,000 in USD value; the form shows the exact limits in LTC.
Rate
Fixed for 30 minutes from order creation, or floating until the swap executes. The 0.48% fee is inside either quote.
Typical time
About 15 minutes of Litecoin confirmations, then execution and the XMR payout; most orders finish within 5 to 30 minutes.

Why this route

Why swap LTC to XMR

Litecoin is a common way into Monero for smaller amounts. The chain targets one block every 2.5 minutes, so the 6 confirmations Ghostex waits for take about 15 minutes: three times as many confirmations as a Bitcoin deposit needs, yet a shorter wait than Bitcoin's 2 blocks of about 10 minutes each. Every LTC transfer is public on the Litecoin ledger, as on Bitcoin's; the payout lands on Monero, which hides amounts and recipients on its own chain.

If you would rather end up with Bitcoin, LTC to BTC uses the same Litecoin deposit. Holding Tether on Tron as well? USDT TRC20 to XMR clears its deposit in about a minute.

Before you send

Litecoin addresses, MWEB and your refund address

A refund on this pair is paid in LTC on the Litecoin network, so the optional refund address must be a Litecoin one. The form accepts four formats: ltc1… (SegWit or Taproot), L… (legacy P2PKH), M… (P2SH) and the older 3… P2SH form. The prefixes come from Litecoin's chain parameters, the same file that sets the 2.5-minute block target.

The 3… form is the trap. A legacy Litecoin P2SH address is built exactly like a Bitcoin P2SH address, so a Bitcoin 3… address passes the format check and the form cannot warn you. A refund sent there would go to that string on the Litecoin network, where your Bitcoin wallet will never show it. Copy the refund address from your Litecoin wallet's receive screen, or use an ltc1… address, which no Bitcoin wallet produces.

Litecoin also has an optional privacy layer, MWEB (MimbleWimble Extension Blocks), released in Litecoin Core 0.21.2. MWEB balances use addresses that start with ltcmweb1…. The deposit address shown on your order is a regular Litecoin address. If the coins you plan to use sit in an MWEB balance, add a regular Litecoin refund address (ltc1…, L… or M…) to the order before you send, so a refund has a known destination.

Fees and timing

LTC to XMR fees and timing

Ghostex charges one fee, 0.48% of the LTC you send, and it is already taken inside the quote. The table shows it in LTC; the widget above shows the live XMR amount for your exact figure.

Fee on this pair: 0.48% of the LTC sent
LTC you send0.48% fee, in LTC
1 LTC0.0048 LTC
10 LTC0.0480 LTC
100 LTC0.4800 LTC

~15 min deposit wait

6 confirmations × the 2.5-minute target spacing in chainparams.cpp. Real block gaps vary, so some deposits clear sooner and some later.

~2 min Monero blocks

After the swap, the XMR payout confirms on a chain that adds a block about every 2 minutes; your wallet then keeps it locked for 10 blocks, about 20 minutes, before you can spend it.

Who pays which fee

Your wallet pays the Litecoin network fee for the deposit; it goes to miners, not to Ghostex, and is not refunded. The network fee for the XMR payout is covered by Ghostex and already reflected in your quote.

Common mistakes

LTC to XMR mistakes to avoid

A Bitcoin 3… address as the refund

It passes the format check because both chains share the P2SH form, and a refund would land where your Bitcoin wallet cannot see it. Paste an ltc1… address from your Litecoin wallet instead.

An exchange fee taken from the amount

Some exchanges deduct their withdrawal fee from the figure you type, so fewer LTC arrive than the order expects. On a fixed rate a different amount loses the lock: the swap runs at the market rate or is refunded automatically. Withdraw the quoted amount plus the exchange's fee.

LTC on the wrong network

Only native LTC on the Litecoin network fills this order. A Litecoin token issued on another chain, such as BNB Smart Chain, is the wrong asset and network: there is no automatic refund, and recovery may not be possible.

Who runs the order. Oracle quotes LTC against XMR, Router finds the path, Sentinel counts the 6 Litecoin confirmations, Executor swaps or refunds, and Courier pays out; meet the five agents. Pick a fixed rate to lock the XMR amount for 30 minutes, or a floating one that settles at execution: compare the two rate types.

FAQ

Litecoin to Monero questions

How long does LTC to XMR take?

Most orders finish in 5 to 30 minutes. The Litecoin side is about 15 minutes for 6 confirmations at the 2.5-minute block target; after that come the swap and the XMR payout on Monero's roughly 2-minute blocks.

Which Litecoin refund addresses work?

Any mainnet Litecoin address in the ltc1…, L…, M… or legacy 3… format; testnet addresses are rejected. Check a 3… address twice: a Bitcoin P2SH address looks identical and would pass.

Can I pay from a Litecoin MWEB balance?

The deposit address shown on your order is a regular Litecoin address. If your coins are in an MWEB balance, add a regular Litecoin refund address (ltc1…, L… or M…) before you send, so any refund has a known destination.

Do I need an account or KYC?

No. The order needs only the LTC amount, your Monero address and, if you want one, a Litecoin refund address. No name, email, phone or ID is asked for, and there is nothing to sign up for.

What happens if the swap cannot complete?

Your LTC comes back automatically on the Litecoin network, minus the network cost of sending it: to your refund address, or to the address the deposit came from. No Ghostex fee is kept on a refunded order. A wrong asset or a deposit on the wrong network is not refunded automatically.
